What to see in the surroundings:
Walking along Via Indipendenza, you will reach Piazza Maggiore in ten minutes with the Basilica of San Petronio, the Fountain of Neptune, Palazzo d'Accursio, and Palazzo del Podestà.
Leaving Piazza Maggiore behind, you will enter the "Quadrilatero," the ancient medieval market, ideal for gastronomic shopping where you can buy the traditional specialties of Bolognese cuisine.
Exiting the "Quadrilatero," you will find yourself under the two towers, symbols of the city. The Asinelli Tower is the tallest (97.20 m) and can be visited; by climbing its 498 steps you can enjoy the spectacular panorama of Bologna.
Among other important places to visit are:
- the Archiginnasio,
- the Basilica of Santo Stefano: one of the main attractions of the city, as it is made up of seven different churches nestled within each other. This allows the visitor to enjoy an unmissable experience, appreciating different architectural styles from the Middle Ages.
